DSC was used to measure the thermal stability behaviour of
BC. The analysis was conducted using a DSC 204 F1 simultaneous
thermoanalyser (Netzsch, Bavaria, Germany) with oxygen (99.99%,
60 mL/min) as the purge gas and nitrogen (99.99%, 30 mL/min) as
the protective gas. A BC sample of 2–5 mg was weighed into an
aluminium pan and hermetically sealed with a lip. An empty pan
was used as a reference. The system was equilibrated at 50 ◦C for
5 min and then heated linearly to 300 ◦C at the rate of 10K/min. The
measurements were carried out in triplicate.
