The designing of chemical compositions of the multi-component white cast iron was carried out on consideration of not only the solidification structure, i.e. the type and morphology of carbide precipitating during solidification, but also the transformation behavior of the matrix by heat treatment. The main purpose was focused on improving the abrasion wear resistance from room to elevated temperatures by availing hard eutectic carbides and matrix hardened by secondary precipitation of carbides due to heat treatment.
