For any of the three studied nutrients, we found considerable
sample-to-sample variation. Since only milk samples from 10 women
were analyzed and levels of the studied analytes were very
different among them, standard deviations were high; this entails
the possibility that some existing minor differences may not be detected
after the statistical analysis. This point is probably the main
limitation of the study, and highlights the importance of studying a
larger number of samples in future studies, to select women with
similar characteristics (to minimise sample-to-sample variation)
and/or record the characteristics of the participants (to be able to
stratify the population during the data analysis).
