When pollinations are made using genotypes of the same floralgroup, the pollen has to be stored for a longer time. To check theeffect of pollen storage at 4◦C, pollen viability was evaluated dailyusing both in vivo and in vitro germination tests during the five daysfollowing pollen collection. A total of 250 flowers of ‘Hass’ at themale stage were collected at the time of anther dehiscence and 250before anther dehiscence and maintained in the fridge (4◦C) forseveral days. Pollen from 40 flowers stored at 4◦C collected at themoment of anther dehiscence and 40 collected before this stage, was spread daily on two Petri dishes and germinated in vitro fol-lowing Alcaraz et al. (2011). Germination was evaluated after 24 hof
