The current flowing through the HV conductors of the power train system is isolated from the machine frame by the insulation used on the conductors. The internal components of the power inverter, generator, propulsion module, and other HV power train modules are all grounded to the individual module housings.
If a HV current leak occurs in a current conductor, the voltage will be conducted to the machine frame by the braided shield wire around the conductor. If a short circuit occurs in a power train module, the current is allowed to flow to the machine frame by the use of a bond wire or ground strap from the module to the frame.
