The participants reported that the most frequently used strategies were I use the dictionary to prepare a role play or communicative activity in class and if I do not hear a word or phrase clearly, I relate it to the part of the conversation that I understood. The findings are similar to the findings of Oxford‟s (1990) study which revealed that acknowledges dictionary use as a representation of „using resources for receiving and sending messages‟. In addition, Oxford explains that the meaning of what is heard or read in the new language, or with producing messages in the new language help learners understand the conversation.
