Finally, kiwifruit was analyzed for expression of the antioxidant
activity, measured in both the hydrophilic and lipophilic extracts
of the fruit by FRAP, ABTS and ORAC assays. The antioxidant
activity of the hydrophilic fraction of the fruit is described in Fig. 1.
Kiwifruit grown in Borgo Podgora orchard showed the highest
antioxidant activity compared to the other orchards when
measured by FRAP (0.71 mmol Trolox/100 g; P < 0.05), ABTS
(0.57 mmol Trolox/100 g; P < 0.05) and ORAC (1.36 mmol Trolox/
100 g; P < 0.05) assays. By contrast, kiwifruit from Doganella
orchard exerted the lowest antioxidant activity in the hydrophilic
fraction when measured by both FRAP and ABTS assays.
