The shaded columns on the q1 map, together with the JK flip flop design table (Table 7.6) are used, row by row, to produce the shaded columns on the J1 and K1 maps. For example, the first two rows have q1 going from 0 to 0, producing J 0, K X. The last two rows have q1 going from 1 to 0, producing J X, K 1. To get the second column of the J1 and K1 maps, we use the second column of the q1 map but still the q1 column (the first column) as shown shaded in Map 7.4b.
