Hypnotic susceptibility is the ability to become hypnotized. Some prople have a low degree of susceptibility they cannot easily be hypnotized. Others have a high susceptibility, meaning that they can be easily hypnotized. One well-known standard test for measuring the degree to which people respond to hypnotic suggestions is the Stanford Hypnotic Susceptibility Scale. The scale assesses your suggestibility to certain tasks while in a state of hypnosis with a trained hypnotist. The tasks range from pulling apart your interlocked fingers to hallucinating the presence of a buzzing fly.
