Subject: Columbia University's INVENTED at BIS in June 2014
Dear Parent,
Columbia University's INVENTED at BIS in June 2014
Columbia University, the Ivy League University based out of New York City, would like to host a tailored entrepreneurship program for the students of BIS.
In June 2013, Columbia University's INVENTED program was conducted for the first time at BIS with a batch of 15 students who all successfully completed it, receiving Columbia University Merit Certificates and Recommendation Letters in the process. In fact, many of the year-12 participants subsequently leveraged these recommendation letters in their college admissions process this year.
This unique action - oriented intensive program designed to catapult venture ideas into reality is called “In-V-Ent-Ed®” and is scheduled over a five day period at the school. Through interactive lectures, short case studies, and structured activities, students explore the elements of the new venture planning process in a innovative modular format. At each stage of venture plan development, students learn critical terms, apply tools that support research and decision making, and develop a deep understanding on how each major planning activity fits into formal venture creation. The program will be taught by Dr. Jack McGourty and his team from Columbia University. Dr Jack is the Director of Community and Global Entrepreneurship at the University and in his previous role was the Vice Dean of the Columbia's Engineering School.
Key Details:
Program Dates: 16th June - 21st June 2014 (summer holidays)
