However, industrial methods are extremely expensive for poor people in developing countries. This has led many researchers to develop low-cost effective and economic techniques that can be easily used in rural and remote regions. On this view, many works demonstrated the beneficiary effects of surface coatings of iron oxide(s)/hydroxide(s) on the sorption behavior towards metal ions onto, for instance: 1) silica and Al(OH)3/SiO2 [2-8]; 2) aluminosilicate minerals such as zeolite [9,10]; and 3) hydrated magnesium silicate mineral, sepiolite [11].
