Beta-carotene may be needed to provide
vitamin A activity to the granulosa cells of the
follicle. Preformed Vitamin A in the blood may
not reach these cells.
Beta-carotene deficiency has been associated
with follicular dysfunction, including cystic
ovarian degeneration and delayed ovulation.
