.Aneurysms of the peripheral vessels (axillary , brachial , iliac , cervical , and renal arteries) can occur, although this is very rare and usually is seen only in children who also have large coronary aneurysm . In the acute phase myocarditis (inflammation of the myocardium) is usually present . Decreased LV function may be seen on echocardiogram, but children do not often have clinical signs of heart failure , and ventricular function usually improves after the administration of IV immunoglobulin (IVIG) . The systemic inflammation gradually subsides and eventually ceases in 6 to 8 weeks.
