3.2. The effect of temperature on methyl ester yield
The catalytic activity of whole-cell lipase is influenced by temperature,
which is an important factor for biodiesel production.
Methanolysis of C. inophyllum oil was carried out at different
temperatures 30 _C, 35 _C and 45 _C for a reaction time of 72 h and
12:1 M ratio. The temperature versus biodiesel yield is shown in
Fig. 3. Methanolysis for temperatures of 30 _C, 35 _C and 45 _C
produce appreciable amount of methyl ester. Higher yield was
observed at 35 _C. No significant increase in the yield of methyl
ester was observed at 45 _C owing to the denaturation of immobilized
lipase [20,21].
