Guiden and Ewers [9] identify four kinds of systems. One kind of Eis focuses on
providing faster, easier access to information. Another stresses improved communications
through electronic messaging, voice mail, calendaring, word processing, and
other office support systems. Yet another type of EIS might be designed to solve a
particular problem and include decision support system capabilities. The final kind of
EIS might be designed with motivating performance in mind. The infonnation provided
by the system focuses executive attention on areas where it is needed.
