Industry Studies
There are plenty of studies of high-technology industries. One of the best examples is Lee et al!s (2000) book about Silicon Valley entitled: The Silicon Valley Edge: A Habitat for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. One particularly illuminating aspect of the book is the chapter on Fairchild Semiconductor which shows how this innovative company spun off a whole series of technical entrepreneurs. Sometimes industries that are not so high tech can also be useful. The cycle industry is not obviously high tech but Rosen (2002) does cover both technology and entrepreneurs extensively.
