The gangliocytoma component was mixed in amongst the adenoma cells and comprised aggregates of atypical ganglion cells with abundant cytoplasm and eccentric nuclei with a fibrillary background (Fig. 2). There was also some calcification present. Within these areas, there were regions of spindle cells on a fibrillary background more consistent with ganglioglioma (Fig. 3) Stains for NeuN, synaptophysin and neurofilament were weakly positive. Stains for CD34 were positive in the ganglioglioma components. Glial fibrillary acid protein was weakly positive. Isocitrate dehydrogenase-1 (IDH-1R132H) and B-raf proto-oncogene (BRAFV600E) stains were negative.
