Hello Carmel
Just touching base regarding fumigation details. I believe the fumigation needed is –
1. Ethylene oxide fumigation under initial minimum vacuum of 50 kilopascals at a rate of 1200 g/m³ for 5 hours at 50 ºC. OR
2. Ethylene oxide fumigation under initial minimum vacuum of 50 kilopascals at a rate of 1500 g/m³ for 24 hours at 21 ºC.
I am currently checking with the authorities in Australia to get this in writing. Can you please ensure that the boxes and owls are only stained not lacquered, as the fumigation will not penetrate lacquer of paint. I believe they are only stained but thought it is better to check. We have also been thinking that the lower temperature of 21degrees Celsius is needed to protect other products eg candles. Please let us know if this type of fumigation poses any problems or extra expense as it is only the wooden and bark pencils that require this, instead of methyl bromide.
