in case of multiple metastases,palliative(noncurative) resection of the primary tumor is still offered to reduce fuether morbidity caused by tumor bleeding , invasion,and its catabolic effect. Surgical removal of isolated liver metastases is , however , common and may be curative in selected patients ; improved chemotherapy has increased the number of patients who are offered surgical removal of isolated liver metastases
