4. Conclusions
In the present study we developed and evaluated a highthroughput
approach for the isolation of QQ bacteria from environmental
samples.
We applied this method to 16 samples and isolated a
total of 59 strains able to use AHLs as sole sources of C and N, either
alone or as part of a consortium. Of these 59 isolates, 41 were able to
quench QS in the absence of other partners and 14 possess
extracellular QQ activity.
