Parker (1917) found the extension of a turgid lobe from
the pedal disk of an advancing anemone. Mariscal (1972)
reported that both S. haddoni and Entacmacea quadricolour
anemones moved 20 cm h−1 following their release into
aquaria by ‘inching’ along the path without detaching their pedal disk. In consistence, S. haddoni covered more than
94 cm in straight line without detachment of the pedal disk.
