Variations in material strength have been limited to the consideration
of horizontally bedded layers within this study. No attempt has
been made to consider layers of varying dip/strike. Such changes may
generate temporal and spatial variations in rock strength as described
by Trenhaile (1999) or significantly change the dominant erosional processes
being experienced beyond those considered within SCAPE. For
example, where discontinuities dip seaward they can become the foundation
of large scale landslides (Emery and Kuhn, 1982).
