Thank you - every time you report a SPAM or phishing mail you are helping to improve the e-mail filtering mechanism at Shell.
As this mailbox is not manually monitored you will not receive an email response so to find out what happens to the mails you submit, please review the below.
Did you attach your e-mail?
All e-mails sent to this mailbox must be sent as an attachment to allow the anti-spam analyzer to access the message correctly. Any messages submitted incorrectly will not be processed.
If you did not send your message as an attachment, please re-submit following the steps below:
1. Open a new e-mail message and address it to Spam.Abuse@shell.com
2. Drag and drop the SPAM mail into the new e-mail message so it saves as an attachment. More information on how to send an e-mail attachment can be found here.
3. If you have multiple SPAM e-mails you can send these attached to one e-mail - you do not need to send multiple e-mails with one attachment per mail.
What happens to e-mails sent to this mailbox?
Every time you send an e-mail to the spam abuse mailbox, the SPAM and phishing messages are forwarded for analysis and action.
Analysts then normally take 2 - 3 days to review the message and make the necessary changes, although this can vary depending on the message and filtering rule changes required.
As the original message is deleted, if you had requested a read receipt you may receive a ‘message deleted without being read’ notification. This can be ignored, as your submission will still be actioned.
What should I do if I continue to receive the same SPAM e-mails?
Please be aware that this mailbox is not a blocking mechanism and if you continue to receive the same SPAM e-mail, we encourage you to resubmit the message. Every mail that is sent will be reviewed and associated with a spam score. By resubmitting the same spam e-mail multiple times, you are essentially increasing the spam score for that particular spam e-mail to improve filtering.
If you are still receiving the same spam mail after 3 consecutive submissions, you should contact the Service Desk for an escalation. Your case will then be reviewed on an individual basis.
You should also unsubscribe from e-mails you no longer wish to receive such as newsletters you had actively subscribed to – never click on links in unsolicited email.
Worried you may have been the victim of a phishing attack?
If you clicked on a link, opened an attachment, or visited a website and are now concerned that you may have unintentionally shared information, or suspicious that something was just not right, you must raise this as a separate IRM incident.
If you have any concerns or questions, please forward them to GI-D Ops Messaging SITI-ITSS-EUC.
