The bypass valve
is sized to fill the reactor at a superficial velocity of 6.1 m/hr. If a swaged reactor is
present, the superficial velocity is based on the diameter of the smallest bed. Do
not stop filling the reactor until it is completely full of liquid. More benzene will
have to be brought in from storage(TK-4102A/B) throughout this procedure to
replace the volume used for reactor filling. This benzene must be brought in via
the normal routing to ensure it is stripped of water and oxygen.
