Aerial footage has emerged of a kilometre-long trench slicing through a rural community in northwest Mexico.
The eight-metre deep crack opened up last week, severing the main highway between the town of Hermosillo and the coast.
Farmers and vehicles have been forced to make long detours around the trench, which is up to five metres across in places.
According to geologists, the fissure is believed to have opened up after heavy rains caused underground subsidence.
