Advantages:
Large deposition volume for particles which,
separated from the flow, entered the dead
zone and strike the sieve area at an angle;
Equally well suited for both horizontal and
(from top to bottom) vertical flow.
Disadvantages:
Increased pressure drop, caused by change in the flow direction;
Difficult handling of flange fittings;
Troublesome insertion of sealant during
maintenance (overhead work, dripping);
Residual deposition area.
