Fumigant toxicity
Results related to fumigant toxicity bioessays were shown in
Fig. 1. Essential oil from A. herba-alba was more toxic for both
insects at all tested concentrations. Susceptibility of adult pest
population strains of O. surinamensis was greater compared to population strains of T. castaneum (Fig. 1). This led to that fumigant
activity changed with insect strain, plant species, oil concentration, and exposure duration. These results were proved by lethal
concentration values. The corresponding LC50and LC95for A. herbaalba were respectively 3.05 and 13.41 L/L air for O. surinemensis
against 5.22 and 45.18 L/L air for T. castaneum. Concerning A.
