In recognition of the importance of progress monitoring in
couple therapy,Pinsof and colleagues developed a
multi-systemic measure that assesses therapeutic alliance and
system change in individuals, families, and couples. The Systemic
Therapy Inventory of Change (STIC) predicts client retention and
drop-out and its utility for tracking couple
therapy outcome has been described but not
systematically evaluated. Additionally, the point at which couples
who ultimately do not benefit from therapy can be detected remains
unknown
