(1) On 27 October 2014, the Pollution Control Department has released the proposed Act on the Management of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and Used Products (in Thai). If adopted, would incorporate the concept of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), encourage waste reduction, and also set clear WEEE take-back and recycle regulated products are responsible for the cost of managing their waste which includes the cost of take-back, collection, transport, re-use and treatment of their waste. The main idea is to promote environmental-friendly product designs, and lesser use of hazardous chemicals in products.
