Selenium analysis
Selenium levels in the three experimental diets, blood,
and semen can be found in Table 2. No detectable levels
of selenium were found in the control diet. The inorganic
selenium and organic selenium diets contained 0.31 and
0.37 ppm of selenium, respectively. Blood plasma selenium
levels were higher (P = 0.003) in the organic selenium diet
compared with the control diet. Levels from boars fed the
inorganic selenium diet were intermediate. There was no effect (P = 0.18) of dietary treatment on selenium in the
semen.
