2.2.1. Extractions
Apple pomace (10 g) was extracted with 100 mL of 70% acetone
(acetonic extract, AE) or 80% methanol (methanolic extract, ME) in
darkness, by magnetic stirring at 20 C. The extracts were filtered
through no. 1 Whatman paper on a vacuum-aided Buchner funnel
and concentrated to dryness by rotary evaporation at 30 C, under
reduced pressure. The solid residue was dissolved in distilled water
and lyophilised. The total extraction process was done in duplicate.
