He represents Vayu of the five elements. So the attributes of the WIND is reflected in his character. We as children were told he was so strong that he pulled down trees and flew several Yojanas .His strength is like that of the wind.
(In Mahabharata as Vayuputra Bheema is known to have the same strength Hence they were known as brothers).
The experience people have at Manasarovar is because of its environmental conditions.(i have been there myself and closely observed its influence on people)
Oxygen levels are very low in these places which plays on the mind, there is a temporary loss of memory,/thought less state, it is a situation when the subconscious takes over and all strong desires start surfacing , and whatever they have hankered for starts manifesting. (this no mind/stilling the mind state which we strive to get to through yoga practices is naturally available there )
(some said they saw their dead parents , some see their favourite gods, rama Krishna ect)
The intensity of one’s want/ wish , ect (Annaya Bakthi) is so high that the MIND not only manifests but also projects it for one to SEE. (YOU ALONE … can see, the person next to you cannot)
That is what Krishna says in the Bagvad Getha “ You can see me in the FORM YOU wish “
For eg Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, s BAKTHI was so intense, that he could even converse with Durga
It is a matter of projecting that which is WITHIN YOU. And the Himalayan conditions are most suitable for that.
My intention here is only to explain, (within my limitations) and not belittle Bakthi (devotion/faith) which again is a achievement in itself.
