Depression sometimes occurs after a major life change, such as a move, a divorce or receiving bad grades at school, but it should not be dismissed as understandable or normal behavior. Depression also occurs quite often among people who are physically ill and/or disabled. People with a physical disability or an illness such as cancer or diabetes combined with clinical depression are diagnosed as having co-occurring depression. In some causes, depression is accepted as a normal result of the chronic illness. However, depression is not a natural reaction to having another illness.
