Memory is a wonderful trait of human beings. Now, more than ever in history, scientists are unlocking the secrets to enhancing memory (Banikowski, 1999). Atkinson and Shiffrin, (1968) state that original model of memory, consisting of the sensory memory, short-term memory, and long-term memory. According to Oxford (1990), memory strategies, traditionally known as mnemonics, have been around since ancient times. They involve linking the word with some previously learned knowledge and their goal is organization and consolidation. Also, there are three; memory sub-strategies acronym, grouping, and imagery which help learners store and retrieve information, were taught to examine their impact on the short-term and long-term vocabulary retention.
