GPP was higher in the cold, nutrient-rich surface waters of station I6, decreasing
with depth below 25 m; however, maximum GPP values (Z2.870.13mmolO2 m3 d1) were measured at the southern end of the drift (stations I8 and I9) in relatively nutrient-poor waters above
the chlorophyll maximum. CRO2 at the northern Fram Strait stations
reflected closely GPP with low values at the northernmost stations
