Spearheading these changes is Alibaba, Chinese Internet company that specializes in introducing Chinese manufacturers to buyer worldwide. Founded in 1999 by Jack Ma, who has been dubbed “the Father of the Chinese Internet,” Alibaba makes international trade cheaper, faster, and easier. Based in Hangzhou, about a two-hour drive south of Shanghai, it begin operations with the goal of getting big by staying small. Jack Ma believes that his target customers are SMEs, not MNEs-or, in his words, “shrimps” not “whales”
