We have learned about reflection of light. When aparallel light beam is reftected by a smooth surface,the reflected beam is also parallel. This kind of reftection is called regular reflection. A mirror consists of a plane surface that reflects all incident light beams regular. But how does a mirror produce the image? At first we have to learn the law reflection.
If a light ray is reflected by surface the angle of the incident ray to the normal is equal to the angle of the reflected beam to the normal.
The law of reftection is show in the picture below. Here is the angle of the incident ray to the normal and is the angle of the reflected ray to the normal. With this the law of refletion can be written as:
