The case study method is a good approach for examining
leadership development. This method allowed us to
investigate the leaders behaviour, the persons who were
led and the context in which leadership development
took place – all of which are required to understand the
complexity of leadership (Firth-Cozens & Mowbray
2001). The study assessed the perspectives of a wide
variety of team members affected by leadership
development, giving us the diversity needed to better
understand the process. Comparison to pre-CLP leadership
style, however, was not possible because data prior
to the CLP were not available.
