Recommendation for diagnostic criteria
• A standard OGTT should be performed, irrespective
of meals, by giving 75 g anhydrous glucose in 250–300
ml water. Plasma glucose (from venous blood sample)
should be measured fasting and after 2 hours and 2-hour
plasma glucose values of ≥ 140 mg/dL and ≥ 120 mg/dL are
considered diagnostic of GDM and DGGT, respectively
(Grade A; EL 4).8
• The diagnostic criteria which are recommended are in line
with the DIPSI guidelines; PG of 2-hour ≥ 200 mg/dL is
diagnosed as diabetes, ≥ 140 mg/dL as GDM and ≥ 120 mg/
dL as DGGT (Table 2) (Grade A; EL 4)
