2.2 Characteristics of computer network
technology
To a certain extent, the emergence of computer network
technology narrows the distance among people. It is the
application of network technology that makes computers in
different places exchange data at will, and realize more functions
on this basis. Thus, the most obvious feature of the network
technology is reducing distance. A lot of current applied software
is developed on the basis of the network, such as instant
messaging software. People in different areas can have real-time
communication through the use of these softwares; they can even
watch each other using camera equipment. It is the timeliness that
makes the network well applied in the fields of journalism and
communication. In the ages relatively backward in information,
the spread of information took a long time, especially between
places far away from each other. At that time, information people
got from another place usually had happened for a long time. In
contrast, the use of computer network technology makes the
spread of information have characters of timeliness. We can know
events happen in other areas in real time through ways like
microblog.
