Angry Birds is getting a sequel. The announcement came today in the way of a promotional poster that promises a "bigger, badder, birdier" experience.
The announcement also teases further details will be announced on July 28 in San Francisco, presumably at some type of event. Or perhaps literal angry birds will descend on the fair city? Time will tell.
AngryBirds
Angry Birds was the runaway mobile hit from Rovio that spawned a whole slew of licensed variations that you've probably played at least once or twice.
The simple mechanics of the game, whereupon players launch bird projectiles into towers populated by evil pigs, spawned not only a ton of game variations, but also licensed products from plushies to t-shirts to lunchboxes.
Rovio, the developer behind the Angry Birds phenomenon, saw profits drop 73% in 2014. Angry Birds 2, if it should capture the imagination of consumers, should help to boost the company's bottom line.
We'll have more on Angry Birds 2 as it becomes available, so get your mobile devices ready to find out when you can start wasting all your free time flinging birds at pigs again.
