Subject directories are lists of Web sites arranged by broad subject area.
They are useful for general topic browsing. Examples are Yahoo!, LookSmart, Open
Directory, and Ask Jeeves. Some search engines such as Excite, Infoseek, and Lycos,
also have directories.
Subject directories include fewer sites than search engines, but the sites are
better organized. They are most useful when searching for sites that you know exist and
