Questions for Individual Oral Test Unit 12: 10 points = 5%
Objective: An oral test is to evaluate how well each student can answer 2 questions by using the target language structures.
- There are 2 sets of questions being placed face down. - Each student randomly picks 2 of the questions (one from each set) and answer them within 40 seconds. Don’t forget to give some appropriate supports or reasons about the answers. The student can alternatively choose one first and then answer before s/he moves on to the second question from the other set.
Set A: What clauses + Long noun phrases
1. How would you go about getting information about a new career?
2. What’s the main thing you need to do to prepare for a job interview?
3. If you decided to change careers, what would you do first?
4. What would you do if you got your dream job and then hated it?
5. What’s the first thing you want to do after graduating from the university?
6. What would you like to change in our university?
7. If you could make a wish, what would you ask for your parents?
8. What’s the best thing in your life right now?
Set B: Future questions (future continuous/perfect tenses)
1. What do you think you’ll be doing 5 years from now?
2. In ten years, how do you think the worldwide job market will have changed?
3. What things do you think you will have accomplished in five years?
4. In the future, will more people be working from home? Why?
5. What position will you be working in 15 years from now?
6. After graduating from the university, how do you think your life will have changed?
7. Next ten years, how many countries do you think you will have visited?
8. What do you think you will be doing after retiring from work?
Criteria:
9-10 points: correct sentences, perfect use of target structure
7-8 points: some minor mistakes, partially incorrect use of target structure
5-6 points: minor mistakes, major incorrect use of target structure, illogical sentences
0-4 points: does not say anything or major mistakes or major incorrect use of target structure, making no sense.
