A total of 32 women (7%) had malarial parasitemia. Among
parasitemic women, 23 (72%) were anemic and 2 (6%) were
iron deficient. Malaria parasitemia was significantly less
common in the last month of pregnancy compared with at
≤24 weeks of pregnancy (Table 1). In 220 stool specimens
examined under microscopy, 3 had Entamoeba coli cysts and
1 had Entamoeba histolytica cysts.
