Tech requirements are getting some changes in the very near future.
WHY ARE THE REQUIREMENTS CHANGING?
With the current requirements there is no need to research every single piece of technology to get to the end game tech. While this sounds good in theory, it has a lot of negative side effects. Many players simply “Hull chase” leaving large gaps in their available technology. This causes their base to appear a lower level then it should, as research counts towards base XP.
Similarly, there is no limitations on lower level players using blueprints the have acquired via help from higher level players. This allows players to bypass the tech tree entirely, resulting in players having technology above their recommended level.
Event blueprints will remain as they are, since the effort to win them is more than enough to compensate for the power they provide.
We understand that this will affect some players more than others, which is why we have wanted to announce this update as early as possibly to give everyone an opportunity to acquire the tech they need prior to the update and reduce interruption.
WHO GETS THE CHANGES?
The tech requirement changes will roll out to all players, however we will be releasing this update in stages based on how long players have been in the game. This is to give older players more time to research the required tech to use the equipment they have earned and come accustomed to using.
WHEN WILL THE CHANGES GO LIVE?
For players who joined VEGA Conflict AFTER June 8th this update will be live.
Players who joined VEGA Conflict PRIOR to June 8th will have slightly longer to get their tech researched and update will go live on July 1st
RESEARCH REQUIREMENT UPDATES
All mid and high tier research tech will have new requirements
Any tech that has already been researched can be used as normal, even if the new research requirements are not met
RULES:
Each research item requires:
*the research lab to be a particular level (no change)
*the previous item in its tier to be researched (no change)
*the same level of item to be researched in the previous tier (if applicable)
Example - Zynthium lll requirements
*Ship Lab IX
*Zynthium II
*Iridium III
BLUEPRINT REQUIREMENT UPDATES
Event blueprint tech requirements remain unchanged and can be used as normal
Dropped blueprint tech (i.e. blueprints collected from VEGA fleets) will have new requirements
This may mean that a blueprint that you have completed and used previously, may no longer be used until you have researched the required tech
This change does not affect anything that you have built or equipped using these blueprints in the past, i.e. if you build an Apocrypha Cruiser or equipped Gladius Drivers to a ship, you can still use it even if you have not met the requirements of the blueprint, you just can’t build any more until the requirement is met
RULES
Dropped blueprint tech:
*requires all pieces of that blueprint to be discovered (no change)
*no longer have module requirements
*requires an item of similar tech level to be researched
Example - Gladius Driver II requirements:
*Pieces 5/5
*Mass Driver II
