In this paper, finger interaction method for color
recognition system is developed using explicit thresholding
method for skin clustering. Skin classification method with
HSV color format has fingertip detection rate 3.65% better
than using YCbCr color format. Furthermore, decreasing the
light intensity created a degradation of 4.3% in detection rate
with HSV and 7.4% using YCbCr color format, and also
increasing the fingertip detection error rate of 1.85% with
HSV and 8.9% using YCbCr. Skin classification method using
HSV is better than skin classification with YCbCr in detecting
skin pixel’s color. In color recognition, HSV color format
could be used for classifying the majority of 16 color types
tested, which have recognition rate above 80%. But, there are
several color types which have poor recognition rate with this
color format classification. Respondents claimed that they tend
to agree that finger interaction method to recognize color
works well to recognize colors which are pointed by them in
qualitative testing session.
