This study aimed to explore personality and motivational factors that can promote exercise frequency and the results showed how motivational regulations for exercise can give a strong contribution to better understanding the relationship between personality and exercise. This type of research is not sufficient and needs to be more detailed. In fact, previous research that examined the role of motivation and personality in physical activity together relied on university students (Lewis et al., 2011) or exercisers that did practice in a continuous manner (Ingledew et al., 2008). The findings showed that in heterogeneous groups with a history of regular exercise during the whole year, the role of the motivational regulations to understand the link between personality traits and physical activity is very relevant.
