5. Conclusion
In this work we showed that tomato cv. “Micro-Tom” fruit is tolerant to post harvest chilling under conditions that other varieties do not (4◦C during 4 weeks) despite relatively weak alterations in the final quality of the red fruit. Furthermore, we demonstrated that the ripening stage determination by external visual appreciation is reliable through quantitative measurements of color.There fore, these results show that tomato cv. “Micro-Tom” fruit is a good model system to study the mechanism of post harvest chilling response and tolerance in tomato.
