Policies by Category:
1) Public Holidays – All staff receive 15 public holidays. All Non-Thai staff within the
hotel are hired as Operations Staff not Office Staff and therefore will follow the
same guidelines as other Operations Staff in the Hotel. This means that public
holidays must be requested within 2 weeks time prior to the holiday if the staff
would like to request to take their public holiday and in order to schedule and
make sure among your colleagues that there are sufficient operations staff working
on that holiday.
Q) How do I request to take my public holiday?
A) Please email your Supervisor to request the public holiday. If your Supervisor
approves this request visit HR office to retrieve your Request for Leave card and
have your Supervisor sign it.
Q) How long is my unused public holiday leave valid?
A) Staff can use these dates no later than 6-months from the date of public holiday,
this is noted on your Request for Leave Form.
2) Annual Leave – Hansar provides annual leave for all staff depending on their
registered Level of Management:
a. Level 1 – 20 days
b. Level 2 – 15 days
c. Level 3 – 13 days
d. Level 4 – 12 days
e. Level 5 – 11 days
By Thai law, staff are not allowed to use their annual leave until completion of 1
full year of employment with the company. Hansar has been flexible to allow our
staff to use this annual leave before the 1 year mark. However, if the staff resigns or
is fired before the completion of 1 year then the annual leave days that were taken
will be deducted from their salary and service charge. All staff are asked to request
their annual leave within 2 weeks time prior to the requested leave day in order to
schedule and make sure among your colleagues that there are sufficient operations
staff working on your requested leave day.
Q) How do I request to take my annual leave?
A) Please email your Supervisor to request your annual leave. If your Supervisor
approves this request visit HR office to retrieve your Request for Leave card and
have your Supervisor sign it.
Q) What if I would like to take more than 1 day annual leave?
A) If you would like to take leave for an extended period of time (more than 1 day)
please inform your Supervisor far in advance (1 month) if possible to adequately
prepare for your absence. If not done so, Supervisor may not approve your annual
leave request.
Q) What if I would like to take leave during high season or peak periods?
A) As we work in the 24-hour hospitality business with peak periods during
Christmas and New Years time it is generally understood that our staff will have to
work during these high season periods and we ask the staff to take their annual
leave during less busy periods.
3) Keep Day Off + Compensation Day – On your Request for Leave form there is the
area for Keep Day Off + Compensation Day, in the case that the staff would like to
transfer their days off please make sure it is approved and signed off by your
Supervisor.
4) Sick Leave – Each staff receives 30 days sick leave each year. In case the staff
exceeds over 30 days this will affect negatively in their overall performance review
as well as any days for sick leave used past 30 days will be deducted from your
salary. Additionally whenever staff has sick leave in that month, your sick days will
be deducted from your service charge. If the staff takes more than 2-days in a row
of sick leave we ask you to bring a doctor’s note.
Q) What do I do when I am sick?
A) When you are sick send an email or call your Supervisor and Cc to head of HR
(asthr@hansarbangkok.com). When you return to the office please fill out your
yellow Request for Leave Form and have your Supervisor to sign it.
5) Lateness – Each staff are tolerated to have 60 minutes worth of lateness each
month. For every minute past 60 minutes each month, this time will be deducted
from the staff’s salary. In order to ensure that the hours are followed accurately
please use the Schedule Code sheet to fill out your working hours.
Q) What if I have to work early or late can I just change my schedule code (shift)?
A) Yes, please make sure to do so in a timely manner. Please note that HR
coordinator inputs the details each Thursday. And in case you are even more
delayed in your updating the information please note that all information for the
month needs to be updated before the 20th. If not done so on this date, your salary
may be affected.
6) Half Day Sick Leave or Annual Leave – You are able to take half days for leave. It
should follow the same guidelines as stated above. Please note that a half day = 4
hours work.
7) Interns – As interns are students they are granted variations of these policies based
on what is appropriate for their specific program. In most cases, interns will not be
penalized as rigidly as with full-time staff and the hotel will review details case by
case.
