Porphyra yezoensis is one of the economically important seaweeds and contains 25–50% of protein and 25–40% of carbo-hydrates based on dry matter basis [6]. P. yezoensis not only hasa unique flavor and nutritional value, but prevents hypertension,coronary heart disease, lowering blood pressure, and atherosclero-sis. P. yezoensis polysaccharides (PPs) reportedly have antioxidantactivity [7].
